Job profile: Group Account Director

Brave Group is on the lookout for a seasoned and strategic Group Account Director to lead the day-to-day and long-term management of three high-profile clients — African Bank, Eskom, and Castrol.

As Group Account Director, you will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams across strategy, creative, production, media, and client service. Your core mission will be to ensure operational excellence, strategic clarity, and creative integrity in all client deliverables, while fostering enduring relationships with clients and driving agency growth.

We Want

You will act as the central point of contact for clients, ensuring seamless project execution, exceptional service delivery, and forward-thinking solutions that meet both brand and business objectives. Additionally, you will coach, mentor, and develop your account team, contributing to a culture of performance, innovation, and collaboration.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8–10+ years’ experience in advertising, brand strategy, or communications
  • 3–5 years in a senior client service role (e.g. Account Director or Group Account Director)
  • Strong knowledge of advertising processes, from briefing through to production and delivery
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field (Honours an advantage)
  • Proficiency in managing multiple stakeholders and navigating complex client environments
  • Attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative mindset

About the Role

This senior role requires a dynamic individual with a strong track record in advertising, client management, and team leadership. You will play a pivotal role in driving creative excellence, campaign execution, financial oversight, and client satisfaction — while inspiring multidisciplinary teams across strategy, production, media, and creative.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for high-value clients
  • Build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships
  • Understand clients’ businesses, challenges, and market environments
  • Lead strategic planning and communications initiatives
  • Guide clients on innovative, cost-effective solutions that drive brand growth

 

Campaign & Creative Oversight

  • Oversee the end-to-end development and execution of integrated campaigns
  • Collaborate closely with creative and strategy teams to ensure alignment with client goals
  • Evaluate creative work against strategic briefs and provide constructive feedback
  • Manage timelines and deliverables across all workstreams: strategy, creative, media, and production

 

Team & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of Account Directors and Managers
  • Delegate effectively while retaining ultimate accountability
  • Contribute to a culture of mentorship, learning, and collaboration
  • Provide regular feedback, career development plans, and performance monitoring

 

Finance & Operations

  • Ensure the profitability of client accounts
  • Oversee budgeting, billing, cost control, and financial forecasting
  • Manage campaign budgets and production costs with accuracy and efficiency
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and account growth

 

Strategic & Agency Contribution

  • Support the Business Unit Director in business planning, forecasting, and account reviews
  • Share insights on client category trends, competitor activity, and market dynamics
  • Champion innovation and contribute to a positive, forward-thinking agency culture
  • Act as an ambassador for Brave Group in all internal and external interactions
